About The PerseverinG Pi Gamma Chapter

PI GAMMA HISTORY

On February 23, 2004, a group of twelve women gathered at the Center for Black Culture and Learning at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. They formed a group, Una Voz, in hopes of establishing an interest group for Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc.

On September, 2004 Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. officially recognized Una Voz as a colony. The number of women decreased to seven, whom would later become the members of the founding line, these women were: Alexandra Joahnna Anaya, Heather Marie Bell, Jamie Krista Bird, Maria Felicita Esparra, Catherine Anette Llado, Alexandria Quinones, and Gina Marie Segura.

Finally, after three years, 16 members, and endless hard work, on March 3rd, 2007, the PerseverinG Pi Gamma Chapter of Miami University was formed.

We are a Latina-based Multicultural sorority with a goal to empower women from all over the world. The ladies of SLG are driven, confident, and open minded. With these qualities, we have become the fastest growing sorority in the nation; in merely 25 years since our founding we have grown to 114 chapters, 17 colonies, and 35 alumni associations.

With our principles of Academics, Community Service, Morals and Ethics, and Social Interaction we constantly try to better our campus, community, country, and the world.

As the only multicultural sorority on Miami University's campus, we strive to empower women of all backgrounds to become leaders in our university and to make an impact in our individual communities. We have been able to use the synergy from our diverse backgrounds to become successful, motivated individuals. We are proud to say that we are a representation and an example of what Miami can achieve through unity in diversity. Culture is pride, pride is success!
